The leading family support charity, we provide a unique service for families in Welwyn Hatfield - recruiting
and training volunteers to support parents with young children at home.

New Volunteer Preparation Course starts January 2012. Click here for details

Our volunteers support parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability.
They support those who are just finding parenting a struggle. They provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support
and help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope.
Our support is free, confidential and non-judgemental.
1. A family needs help, friendship, advice or support during those early years when the children are young.
2. Families in need ask us for our support. Or - with their consent - they are referred to us by a professional such as a
health visitor.

3. Home-Start recruits, trains and supports volunteers who visit families and offer their friendship and support.
4. To do this, Home-Start relies on its staff and its trustees - and also on everyone else who is able to support the charity
in some way.
5. The family receives the support it needs for as long as is appropriate. With the friendship and support provided by
the volunteer, the family learns to cope and to enjoy the pleasures of family life.
Although it receives non-financial support from the national Home-Start organisation, Home-Start Welwyn
Hatfield is an independent charity and is entirely responsible for raising its own funds. So we need your help
