What do Home-Start trustees do?
Our trustees are concerned with the governance of Home-Start Welwyn Hatfield. They're not responsible for the day-to-day
running of the charity, but they do carry out a wide range of duties. They are responsible for making sure Home-Start is
effective, providing overall direction and ensuring that our funds are soundly managed.
The areas of responsibility include:
- setting the vision and strategic direction of Home-Start Welwyn Hatfield
- acting as treasurer
- ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- fund-raising, including securing funds from statutory bodies and trusts.

Who can be a Home-Start Welwyn Hatfield trustee?
Our trustees come from all walks of life, bringing a broad range of experience and skills. The kind of skills that are
in demand are business or personnel management, finance and fundraising, IT and communications.
But you don't need any particular qualifications to be a trustee. Common sense, an ability to work as part of a team,
an understanding of the pressures facing parents today and a genuine interest in supporting the community are just as important.
